Winn Schwartau begins this brand-new talk with an overview of silicon- and carbon-based technologies that create our sense of reality. (The PivB session on May 9^th will be much more technically in-depth.)

With the metaverse, the hybridization of persistent immersive experiences merges human neuroscience and computer networks. We see the beginnings of these extended technologies and applications with VR-AR-XR-MR systems. VR users can currently be profiled, deanonymized, and data harvested. Metaverse platforms carry all the privacy risks of the current internet and more while at present having none of the defensive privacy tools we are accustomed to using on the web.
